Start Here - Beginning of Year Food Service Training
Here is the main 2 training courses. We will first cover some CA-specific updates, then we’ll dive into a general overview of all aspects of a vended child nutrition program.
Have a notepad handy and hit play to get started!
Second - Complete the Required CDE Civil Rights Training
The USDA requires everyone that works in the child nutrition world to complete an annual Civil Rights training. We have linked the online CDE Civil Rights training module. It’s a short video that covers all the required topics. Once complete, be ready to print/save the certificate you’ll receive at the end. Keep it handy, you will be required to upload it as proof of completion at the end of this training.

Note: If you don’t know your CNIPS ID, you can enter “00000”
Third - Want deeper dive into completing Production Records?
This video is all about paperwork! It goes by many names and it’s something we must complete daily, but it doesn’t need to be a daily struggle. This quick course will give you the basics of what to document. Your vendor’s forms might be slightly different, but the information to track is the same!
Finally - Feeling rusty with your Point of Serve System? Watch a quick Mealtime POS refresh now:
If you use Mealtime, we have linked a quick refresh training.
No matter which POS you use, remember:
All point of service systems must be located at the end of the line
Students must self-identify (Name, Pin, Barcode) Start getting your barcode ready now
You can never back-in meal counts (ie: use attendance records)
Always check your meal counts against your production records after every service for accuracy, if the meals don’t make it into the computer, they won’t be reimbursed.
Keep a paper backup roster by the POS just in case.
This year there is no option to use the paper meal count sheet, you must use your POS starting on the first day of school.
